Job Description:  

Bend Bioscience is focused on the development and clinical production of non-sterile drug products and intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. In this role, you will design, maintain, qualify, and consult on electronic systems critical for operation, compliance, and R&D data analysis. Duties include: 

 

The Director of Digital Technology will optimize and maintain the company strategy for electronic data and systems management and develop and manage outsourcing of electronic tools enabling business and scientific data and systems. The tasks of this position will include: 

  • Manage and lead all digital technology initiatives across the organization. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for the use of digital technology to support the business and scientific objectives. 
  • Establish data governance framework to ensure reliability, availability, and security of all data assets. 
  • Collaborate with science and engineering teams to optimize and drive innovation within research and development workflows. 
  • Develop and manage the cloud-based data architecture. 
  • Lead the selection and implementation of new digital technology platforms and tools. 
  • Ensure that all digital technology solutions meet regulatory compliance requirements, specifically overseeing GMP validation of relevant systems. 
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, including negotiating contracts and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services. 
  • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure that all digital technology solutions are secure and compliant with company policies and regulations. 
  • Develop and maintain all digital technology documentation to include architecture map and asset inventory. 
  • Develop and manage the digital technology budget and act as project manager for all digital technology initiatives. 

 Experience and Educational Requirements: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in developing and maintaining digital technology systems, preferably in a science and engineering context. 
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical development process and associated regulatory requirements. 
  • Working knowledge of data governance principles including cataloging, data profiling, and data quality assessments.  
  • Experience in data modeling, building data pipelines and managing ETL processes.  Practical experience with some relevant tools and languages (i.e. Azure Data Factory, Spark, Python, SQL, .NET framework, etc). 
  • Experience managing cloud-based data architecture (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Google Cloud Services, etc). 
  • Experience managing external vendors or other technology partners. 
  • Project management experience. 
  • Familiarity with IT security standards and best practices.
